Science Based Targets - Useful Links

Utilization of Science-Based Targets (SBT) are is a commitment to maintaining climate change to within 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. The 2-degree C pathway is identified by the scientific community to be the maximum temperature change that life on earth can be maintained at a standard of living that is similar to what we enjoy today.  The 2-degree pathway represents the aggregate emissions levels globally while the sector allocation, or de-carbonization, is a method to disaggregate and set targets by sector.  Sector de-carbonization represents provides the opportunity for organizations to set goals and targets that are consistent within the carbon intensity range that is realistic for their sector.  These methods provide an assurance that organizations are pursuing goals that are realistic, achievable and with the pathway that maintains a 2-degree Celsius pathway agreed upon by the vast majority of the scientific community.
