AWMA’s 118th Annual Conference
Planetkeep's Chris Easter joined colleagues from The Bay Area Air Quality Management District and represented California at AWMA’s 118th Annual Conference http://www.awma.org/ace2025 in Raleigh-Durham, NC. With the lack of leadership and the anti-science approach taken by our current federal administration it was heartening to participate in a truly global panel on Carbon Neutrality. Chris described California's current activities and also moderated several technical sessions, including one with a retired scientist from the USEPA who made his position clear as he spoke about his 40 year career in the Office of Research and Development (USEPA-ORD). It should also be noted that the 50 or so current USEPA staff who had registered for this important conference were told to stand down and not attend right before the conference started.
Despite the headwinds, we the attendees are determined to proceed even without USEPA support and remain committed to climate action at the local, regional, and state and interstate levels; and of course globally as it is a global issue. Chris was inspired by the number of international scientists that reached out and want to collaborate with us. Chris will be working closely with a number of them. Our work continues!
